Hospitality management – Meaning and types. Profit oriented and non-profit oriented welfare services. Hotel – meaning and classification. Hotel terminology.
Unit – II
Plans – definitions, types, and their applicability. Clientele – definitions and types. Types of accommodation, telephone courtesy, telephone system (PBX, EAPBX etc).
Unit – III
Tariff card – Definition, planning of tariff cards, room rates - types, fixing of room rates, Hubbart formula. Check-in and check-out procedure. Front office department – introduction and functions.
Unit – IV
Mails in hotels – type of handling. Messages – source, handling and delivering. Paging system – meaning and procedure, transcript report – introduction and preparation.
Unit – V

Reservations – Modes, sources, charting and cancellation. Billing system – types, methods of billing, procedure. Duties and responsibilities of front-office staff. Handling foreign currency and credit cards in hotels.
