Richard Marx – King of Ballads

Richard Marx is an adult contemporary and pop/rock singer, songwriter and record producer. Most of his major hit songs have been ballads. Marx was the first solo artist to have his first seven singles hit the Top 5 on the US charts.
Marx had a dream debut with self-titled debut album, in June 1987. The album yielded four hit singles and sold nearly 4 million copies in US alone. The debut single, “Don’t Mean Nothing”, climbed to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 as well as #1 on Billboard’s Album Rock charts. Richard became the first new artist played on 117 radio stations nationwide during his initial week on the charts. The next two singles, “Should’ve Known Better” and “Endless Summer Nights” reached #3 and #2, respectively. The fourth single release, “Hold on to the Nights”, earned Marx his first #1 single.
In 1988, Marx was nominated for a Grammy Award for ‘Best Rock Vocal Performance – Male’ for “Don’t Mean Nothing”.
he started off his career lending his voice in background to artists like Lionel Richie and Madonna. He was always a great write and wrote for Kenney Rogers and many others too. His talen for writing is visible in following three songs that have touched any living soul that has ever heard these songs. Not only lyrics, but his music, and rock has also been highly acclaimed, with his ballads dominating all his other work.
I first came across Richard Marx’s songs in 1995-96, and believe me I have always been a marketing and art person, and I heard Marx’s name for the first time at the cassette shop, and was so very touched by the album cover that I just picked up that cassette and rushed back home and got hold of my walkman and got on with the album, and to my amaze each of the Ballads featured in that album were better than others. The album was Ballads.
Until I find you again – Flesh and Bone
Lately I’ve been trying, to fill up my days since you’re gone.
The speed of love is blinding, and I didn’t know how to hold on.
My mind won’t clear, I’m out of tears, my heart’s got no room left inside.
How many dreams will end? How long can I pretend? How many times will love pass me by, until I find you again?
Will the arms of hope surround me? Will time be a fairweather friend?
Should I call out to angels, or just drink myself sober again?
I can’t hide, it’s true, I still burn for you, your memory just won’t let me go.
How many dreams will end? How long can I pretend? How many times will love pass me by, until I find you again?
I’d hold you tighter, Closer than ever before.
Yeah.
No flame would burn brighter, If I could touch you once more, Hold you once more!
How many dreams will end? How long can I pretend? How many times will love pass me by, Until I find you again? ’till I find you again..

Right here waiting – Repeat Offender
Oceans apart day after day, and I slowly go insane, I hear your voice on the line, but it doesn’t stop the pain
If I see you next to never, How can we say forever
Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you, whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks, I will be right here waiting for you
I took for granted, all the times, that I thought would last somehow, I hear the laughter, I taste the tears, but I can’t get near you now
Oh, can’t you see it baby, you’ve got me goin’ Crazy
Wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you, whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks, I will be right here waiting for you
I wonder how we can survive, this romance, but in the end if I’m with you, I’ll take the chance
Oh, can’t you see it baby, you’ve got me goin’ cRaZy, wherever you go, whatever you do, I will be right here waiting for you, whatever it takes, or how my heart breaks, I will be right here waiting for you

Angelia – Repeat Offender
Memories of you and me, tumble inside my head, the way that we used to be, things that we said, no one has ever made me believe so strong, you left me to wonder, how did our love go wrong,
ANGELIA, where you running to now, ANGELIA, got to make you turn around
I lie awake at night, wait for the sun to shine, I still feel you next to me, your lips on mine,
without a warning, you made our love a lie, you said you were sorry, but you never told me why
ANGELIA, where you running to now, ANGELIA, got to make you turn around, maybe my love is in vain, maybe you’re the hurting kind, can’t take no more of this pain, I’ve got to get you off my mind,
Tried to be what you wanted, I gave you all I had, you left me with nothin’, nothin’ but a photograph
ANGELIA, where you running to now, ANGELIA, got to make you turn around, ANGELIA, where you running to now, ANGELIA, got to make you turn around.

This one is one of the best songs I ever heard. “Hazard” by “Richard Marx”, depicts the story of a man being wrongfully accused of murder in a fictional version of Hazard, Nebraska. The song went #1 in charts around the world, and is considered to be one of the biggest hits of the 1990s. Its Hazard from Now and Forever
