Shiv Krishna

Shiv carrying Krishan on his lap,,, BHole ki goad mei kaanha
I've seen this poster almost for ever in our house, and to be very true never took it too seriously or infact even gave it a thought... Mmm... never gave it a thought would be wrong to say... infact I gave it a thought and used to think ke what is this... Shankar bhagwan getting so old... aisa kab hota hai... then Shankar bhagwan having Krishna bhagwan in his lap... grrrr... it was all too mythological and really made no sense to me almost all my life... which now when I look back and see, has been 40 years old... so its been a real long life... and for 40 years I had no inclinations towards all these fairy tales that are attached to various posters in India...
Shankar bhagwan, yeas I always took him to be the supreme and only real bhagwaan, though I was a Shani follower, but still I used to look at Shankar bhagwan only, as a Bhagwan... and Krishna to me was an avatar for kids busy with maakhan and dances and masti, who was arjuna’s charioteer in Mahabharat... bas that was all I knew about Indian mythological tales... and yeas I had no clue of what Bhagwad Gita was... and vedas and Upanishads were only a question of history for me....
But a year or so ago when I was guided towards the spiritual journey by true mystics of India and not the self acclaimed, moral policing gurus of Indian mythology... It was a 360 degree shift for me in my perspective towards this picture...
Here it was... the Supreme Soul... the Parmatma himself and now it was no more Shankar bhagwan for me as now I understood the true essence of this pic... it was Shiv... the source of it all... the true creator, the natural nurturer and the rightful destroyer of sins... and whom he had in his lap... it was the incarnation sent to the earth, who would bless the mankind with the most beautiful song ever sung in the history of time and mankind... who would sing the Song of God, who would recite the Bhagwad Gita to every Arjuna, who has a desire to grasp and learn... now even Arjuna was not just a character from Mahabharat, who was just a fighter of battles on battle fields... all of a sudden even Arjuna was a hero to me... he was a warrior within each of us, battling each day with our very own 100 vices with 5 virtues... he is the true learner of Bhagwad Gita... and so for last year or so I have admired this poster like anything... as no other painting made such beautiful perfect sense to me ever...
The creator himself, Shiv, cuddling his avatar, Krishnawho would give the most majestic and extensive words of wisdom to the mankind in his song, The Bhagwad Gita...
To me this poster is not mythological fairy tale... it is a spiritual admiration of the truth, and an appreciation of the most sacred learning that ever existed in time...
Mano Budhyahankaar Chitani Naaham, Na Cha Shrotra Jihve Na Cha Ghraana netre
Na Cha Vyoma Bhumir Na Tejo Na Vayuh, Chidananda Rupah Shivoham Shivoham
(I am not mind, nor intellect, nor ego, nor the reflections of inner self. I am not the five senses. I am beyond that. I am not the ether, nor the earth, nor the fire, nor the wind (i.e. the five elements). I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, Shiva, love and pure consciousness.)
Now as for the painting... I could very well understand my father’s attachment to this poster now... and now with suchhhh a loooong time passing by(I mentioned earlier, I have seen this poster in our house for eternity), the colors of this painting got kindda leaked and distorted and so I decided to paint it again and get it framed a new... though have not gotten it printed and framed as yet... but yeas for my skills... I can do only this much for now... but would surely love to do it again some time when I feel am aptly skilled to reincarnate this poster... fingers crossed as I have no clue how it would look in a printout, as I have never taken a printout of any of my paintings as yet... lets see how Shiv blesses it...
